Frequently Asked Questions
What is unique about Rutledge Family Holistic when compared to other pregnancy care options?
I provide holistic, family-centered midwifery care with a strong emphasis on autonomy, informed decision-making, physiologic birth, and continuity of care. I serve as your primary midwife and attend births with another experienced midwife, most often the same trusted colleague. I also encourage families to build a supportive care team that may include doulas, chiropractors, and other trusted professionals when appropriate.
Who is Rutledge Family Holistic right for?
Rutledge Family Holistic is a good fit for families who desire home birth, value informed decision-making, and want to take an active role in their pregnancy and birth. I work best with families who are comfortable learning, asking questions, considering recommendations, and participating in decisions about their care.
How much does care cost with Rutledge Family Holistic?
The current investment for the midwifery care package is $8,000. Payment plans are available. The fee for the second midwife/assistant attending your birth is paid separately and is due at the time of birth.
What does testing look like?
Texas requires certain prenatal testing including screening for infections such as syphilis and HIV. Routine care typically includes first-trimester bloodwork, glucose screening, third-trimester bloodwork, and Group B Strep testing with additional testing offered or recommended based on your individual needs and preferences. Options may include genetic screening, fetal sex testing, Rh-related testing, and ultrasounds. Newborn screening may include CCHD screening and newborn metabolic screening.
